While most healing spells are designed to repair existing wounds, Breakward prevents a future wound. Specifically, a Breakward protects the beneficiary from a single significant internal injury. Examples might include a broken bone, a severed artery, or a ruptured organ.
Magical energy spent casting a Breakward spell can’t be recovered until the spell has performed its function or has been Dispelled.
